What to expect when coming for your initial visit…

Starting therapy can be overwhelming and a little intimidating. It can be hard to do something that is new, a bit uncomfortable and out of your comfort zone. It takes courage to inquire about services and find the right fit. If you have never been to therapy before, or if you are returning again to continue to build on previous therapeutic work, I want you to know, I am here for you.

Now a few important things to remember…

I am currently only offering telehealth appointments via my client portal. Telehealth is a wonderful way for you the client to see a therapist at your own time and work it into your schedule. Telehealth therapy is therapy and is just as effective!

Payment is due directly to me, at the time of session. If you, for any reason, are unable to keep your initial or subsequent appointment(s), please contact me at least 24 hours in advance to cancel. If you fail to do so, I will have to charge you the session fee for the missed session or late cancel.

I encourage most clients to try to come weekly at the onset of treatment, if that is a viable option. If not, I highly encourage at least bi-weekly sessions to serve the momentum of the therapeutic process. Eventually the hope is to arrive at a place of maintenance with only monthly sessions and then eventually a mutually agreed upon termination of services.

You may terminate services at any time. If you find I am not the right fit for you or if you are unable to continue for any reason, I ask that you have a final termination or closing session with me, so we can assess next steps and so that I may offer referrals.

I am not a doctor, and do not prescribe medication but may offer a referral for psychotropic medication.

I am able to diagnose mental disorders as outlined in the DSM-V, according to my scope of practice.

If you need me to contact a physician’s office, lawyer or family member regarding the counseling services I am providing to you, please fill out the Release of Information Form via the client portal.

Communication between sessions is limited to scheduling purposes, only. If you are in crisis, call me directly. If I am unable to answer, please call the crisis line at 615-244-7444 or call 911 in the case of an emergency.

After our initial phone consultation, I will send you a link with the documents to fill out via my online client portal. Here is the portal link for current clients:
