I received my Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling/Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2018 and have been practicing as a therapist for more than 5 years. I currently hold a license in Marriage and Family Therapy (license #1598) to practice in the state of TN.
Before beginning my journey as a therapist, I worked in the non-profit sector advocating for vulnerable populations, worked in teaching (ESL), and childcare. I received my Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, with a minor in Spanish. I also hold a certificate of Pastoral Worship Studies and have the unique experience of understanding the challenges and rewards from serving in a ministry setting. I am passionate to come alongside of you, my client, wherever you may be spiritually. I work with an array of populations, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or socioeconomic level. I currently see clients in both English and Spanish.
In my free time, I love to go hiking and garden with my husband. We also have a three year old son, who constantly keeps us on our toes! In my alone time, I enjoy baking as a way to relax, in addition to playing piano, guitar and singing. I dabble in painting as well and believe that the arts are an incredible way to find inner calm and re-center our souls.
My Approach to Counseling
I approach counseling in a collaborative way, understanding that you as the client are the expert on your life, story and experiences. I believe in coming alongside you, the client, to formulate goals for your therapeutic journey so that you will be able to take ownership and thrive in the process. Below are the main therapeutic modalities I use in therapy. Feel free to investigate as little (or as much!) as you would like. Keep in mind that as I apply these modalities, I believe in always keeping the client’s needs central, using the approach that best fits the presenting problems, as well as the main modalities I am well versed in.
